Happy Thursday, Church!
What a beautiful day! After all of the rain and the dreariness, this kind of weather is most welcome, wouldn’t you agree?
I was reading Colossians Chapter 3 today, and an oft-quoted verse popped out at me. Colossians 3:17 (CSB), “And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
It’s amazing to me that no matter what we are doing, we can bring glory to God. Every event, every meeting, every Bible study and small group, every time we interact with the world around us is an opportunity to lift up the name of Jesus, and to do it in a way that lets our community see just how great He is. No matter how trivial what we are doing may seem to be, it’s still a way to fulfill our mission of making disciples–if we do it all in His name, giving thanks to God through Jesus our Lord. So what do you say we get out there and bring God some glory? Amen!
Here are just a few opportunities:
- Taco Thursdays. The first one is happening TODAY! At 6PM at the Glen Rock Park, we will be handing out free walking tacos. Here’s a chance for the community to see what a fun-loving, people-loving, Jesus-loving group of disciples we are! All of the supplies have already been donated, games and activities are already planned, and the taco meat is ready to go, so all you have to do is show up and enjoy yourself! See you there!
- The Glen Rock Arts and Brew Fest is this Saturday! Immanuel will have a stand set up in the Enterprise Building Parking Lot on Water St. We will have games and activities for kids to play, but the important part is that we will be out in the community during a huge and well-attended event to share the love of Christ. We still need a few folks to “work a shift,” but what we really need is for the congregation to stop by and just hang out for a few minutes and let the Fest-goers see what Immanuel really looks like. If you have any questions, please call Jim Merrick.
- On Saturday, June 10th, we will be doing a little “Spring Cleaning” at the church building. We’ll be focusing on the Sanctuary and the second kitchen. Please consider stopping by sometime during the morning and lending a little bit of your elbow grease! If you want to know more about how you can help, please talk to Deanna Wagner or Ann Merrick.
- On Saturday, June 17th, we will be having another Free Pizza and Movie Night. So far, every single one of these movie nights have been a blast! Won’t you consider spending a Saturday evening with us as we provide a safe and fun place for families to relax and enjoy some free pizza and a great movie? This month, we will be watching the Disney classic, “The Jungle Book.”
There are so many fun and exciting opportunities coming up! Please watch for more announcements via email, the bulletin, the newsletter, Facebook, and our (still under construction!) website at immanuelglenrock.org. And remember, this is what “doing church” is all about!
May our Loving and Holy God be with you all as we Know, Grow, and Show!
In His Service,
